Reflection of us

Confusion sets in
swirling about
like a joke or a bad lie
as in \'just a friend\'
or \'not like that\'

promises never kept
but the truest intentions meant
seeking out what we need
both wanting the same
both avoiding the truth

forgiven mistakes
of foolish choices
times when we were
ignored and turned away
are all forgotten

the gleam so full of hope
speaking without voices
spellbound in a gaze
simplicity and complex
all wrapped up in time

a gentle touch or
a pang of envy
when there is another
souring the view
in my mirror

so much the same
goals and futures together
hopeful and hopless am i
but i put You first
let us remember
