Mask

The world around us is changing
and the people we knew yesterday
may not be the same tomorrow

we were taught to hide our feelings
and to act like everything is ok
but sometimes thats not easy

all trust has nearly vanished
for people are afraid
and fear is the opposite of trust

in that fear people hide themselves
not just their feelings but their entire being

and while they do that
they create a mask
that only they can see
covering their heart
fooling everyone

but sooner or later
they meet someone
that causes them to take off their mask

they are afraid at first and try to run
but then they see its all ok

you are that person to me
and i wish you could see that
but instead i broke your heart
because i couldn't get my mask off in time.

so when you find that person
don't hesitate for hesitation
only brings doubt and doubt
only brings grief and grief
only brings heartache and heartache
only brings your mask back...
