Self Imprisonment

by Timothy S   Sep 11, 2005

Solitaire confinement is where I am condemned
Put myself in, aware of my punishment, self-inflicted
Spared another's life, she was stronger than expected
Lasted all the months in chains where she wept silently
Kept her hurt inside to make the master happy
Naive to the situation, blind to the evil acts
Until the day she grew fed up with the shakles
Stood up and said 'let me free from this castle'
Awoken with bloody tears and found her
Lying face down, drowned in tears, her last battle
Looked down with shock and found a letter
In the cold hand she held it tightly clenched
Unravelled it and read through blurry vision
"Master, I've done as much as I can but listen
I can't live any longer as a slave, a posession
So my life ends here, maybe the pain will lessen
Don't weep for me and don't worry for my blood
Will not stain the dresses, I've loved you from day one
I just can't stand this anymore, and if you have a soul
May God bless it"
My soul died that night, so her place I took
Buried her in the mountains, with a view that overlooks the sea
Now I stay shakled in the tower facing her grave so I can see
How cold-hearted I was, and to remember how much she did for me
