We Will Never Forget

by In For Life   Sep 11, 2005

Time after time
We remember
The day of sheer terror

So many lives lost
So many lives destroyed
By hatred and fury
By injustice and jealousy

We will never forget
That once routine morning
Where the sound of liberty
Was shattered across the nation

Some fought back
And defined what America is
Some had no control
And accepted death

Todd Beemer coined a phrase
That would ring forever in our ears
"Let's Roll" he said
Forever it would remain
Engraved in new heroes
Those who fought back

September 11th will forever be ingrained
In our minds and hearts
We reach out to those who died and who were left
Uniting once again
Under the American Flag
Letting our freedom ring

From east to west coast
Hawaii to Alaska
9/11 shook the earth

America was attacked
In a way we won't forget
So many innocents slaughtered
Shouldn't we all be angry?
But yet we hold this day
In our very memories
Forever and for always
This will be
A day we won't forget
For all history

*As everyone realizes, today is the 4 year anniversary of the attack on America by Al-Queda. They slaughtered thousands of people with barbaric attacks. The Pentagon, Flight 93, The World Trade Centers etc. America will rise above these people once again. I for one have a personal attachment to this day. Had my uncle not overslept on September 11th 2001, he would not be here today. He overslept for once and got off his train one stop early going to walk to work. He watched the first plane hit the towers. I write this poem to inspire other teenagers and to remind those who have forgotten what they did to America. Stand up not just as citizens, but stand as Americans. "One nation, under god, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all..." America will never be divided by September 11th despite who we might blame. We were all attacked. Our homeland was attacked. Never forget who did this.*
