Forgiven

by Ashley Mullinax   Sep 12, 2005

Staring directly,
at Death's pale face,
I sadly gave in,
to the grave's embrace.

This screaming silence,
takes sharp hold,
Lucifer's laughter,
my soul has been sold.

Terror fills me,
my trembling frame,
I failed my faith,
I'm so ashamed.

I raise my eyes,
to an angel's tear-streaked face,
I beg of her,
don't let me fall from grace.

She takes my hand,
holds on tight,
smiles and provides me,
with reason to fight.

I'm snatched away,
from my damned fate,
and pulled up,
to Heaven's gate.

All around me,
God's glory shone,
I felt happy,
I felt at home.

The gate opened,
beckoned me in,
God forgave me,
for my sins.
