Ode to a pencil

by carolina   Sep 12, 2005

Lead and wood
writer of words
you create feelings
write words on paper
beautiful
your sharpened
tip often dulls
and you become tired
a blade cuts
you
shaving your
skin
only so you may
write a few
more words
such a painful
procedure
you become
smaller and smaller
turning into a
messily morsel
and are thrown away
lost
such little gratitude
we have
for this creator
