You sat with me when you didn't have too
And patiently listened to the things I told you
And you kept my secrets and kept them safe,
You took off the burden and shared my weight.
You kept encouraging me till I made it through
With your words you helped me to pursue,
You kept the belief I failed to keep,
And prayed for strength when I got tired and weak.
You gave me hope when all turned too bad
And kept the faith I never had,
You eased the pain that I couldn't take,
And saved me when I wanted to escape.
You taught me to be strong in times of trials
And even in the hardest of times you made me smile.
You assured me in those times that God was there,
And that there was no need to feel despair.
You showed me that I had the will to carry on,
Even when everything was going wrong,
You gave me your time when no one else would
And made me do things I never thought I could.
You've made me see that its OK to open my heart
To let people in even though it seemed too hard.
You've given me memories that mean the world to me
But most of all you showed me what a true friend is suppose to be..
