Edward Scissor Hands

by Katrina Boblina   Sep 17, 2005

Long ago
there lived a man
upon a mountain so high.
alone he stayed
although he would try
to find a companion
yet rarely succeeded.

His name I will tell you,
Edward he was called.
After many days of loneliness
and days of solitude.
A woman came to him
to help him in life.

She brought him home
to live in the town.
The people grew accustomed
to the handicap he held.
He was known all around
to many young and to old.
Edward scissor hands
was the name he would hold.

Things all went wrong
and he was framed.
Tried to save a young boy
but to hurt him, they claimed.
He meant no harm
and yet harm was done.
So he ran to the only place
he could ever call home.
Back to the castle
to live all alone.

But never would he forget
the love of a girl.
A girl he loved, Kim,
and became loved in return.
Their memories kept them
together at heart.
And suddenly at Christmas
It began to annually snow.
They knew he still lived,
for the snow continued to fall.
And Kim could still remember
herself dancing in the snow.
And Edward continued
to sculpt her with love.
And no one would continue to know.

That was sweet, based on the movie, isnt it? Very nice, though. The language was simple and nice.

    Good Writing!
    beth.

P.S. as I promised to try harder at giving longer comments, I'll say that the story could have been longer, perhaps based a little more on Edward's life, but if you were aiming on basing it on his and Kim's love then you did very well.
the best of luck in the future, really!

I think this poem could be a little more descriptive about who the character Edward Scissorhands actually was, but i'm thinking if you did write more about Edward Scissorhands, that the poem would go off topic. I watched that movie just a few days ago, and i have to say, you summed it up very nicely. :)
