I knew a place that never saw the light
All things good hid in fear
A place so desolate love did not grow
Cold, hard and unfeeling
Playing the cards life was dealing

This ruinous land had once flourished
A place for life and living
Warm and open it had been
Life had changed it as time went by
My heart did not escape your eye

You saw within me all that is good
Despite all that I told you
