The Darkness of the Soul

by HansRik   Sep 19, 2005

If as they say, our souls are reflected in our eyes,
why are your eyes, instead of lovely and blue, not black?
And mine, instead of black, not grey and hollow?

This world of ours is but a black forest, 'tis full of lies.
Whate'er you give, whether love or joy, you never get back.
Our hearts are full of everlasting putrid sorrow.

Too much love I gave, logic it defies.
The trust and love I gave you, now I lack.
My feelings are now simply empty and mellow.

For all my life is full of pain,
and all the joy I get is brief and vain.
Forever, suffering I shall remain.

Very good. hey, i have to admit to you, our souls ARE reflected through our eyes, but not in the color. I know this because I get visions when I lock eyes with people up close. it's a bit scary, but I'm trying to learn how to control it. anyway, the poem is well written and the idea is interesting and different. I admire your skills.5/5

Damn, that was nothing short of great. You are really something great, you know? thanks for the comments, its no biggie, some of the other poets here think that I'm not a guy, because of the way I do my poems... *sighs* sadness, heartache, depression, suicide, all the things a female poet writes about, because its kind of uncommon to see this coming from a guy... I'm rambling now, anyways, a great poem. ^_^x
