They went too far

by xEmmax   Sep 19, 2005

The night air is cold
as she wanders the empty streets
a fox on the hunt
is all whom she meets

her cheeks are stained
from falling tears
the cuts on her wrists
are the last of her fears

she had to escape
she was trapped, enclosed
the insults were endless
through shouts and bellows

Her privacy invaded
they forced her to speak
tried to grab her hands
when she appeared to be weak

They wouldn't leave her
she couldn't escape
all of her secrets
they wanted to take

Threats to call the doctor
the look on her angry face
they were scared she'd slit her wrists
treating her like a mental case

They said it had gone too far
said she had to quit
but this was disrespectful
she didn't trust them one bit

Finally there was a gap
she jumped at the chance
she ran from the house of hell
without a backward glance

The words of abuse
had made her feel numb
but as she wandered alone
she knew the tears would come.
