A New Beginning

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Sep 20, 2005

Trapped within my past, twisted metaphors.
Haunted by the horrid memories, painted black.
Drowning my sorrow on pages of diaries.
Bleeding my pain through my pen, words.

Trapped within my past, the darkness enveloped me.
Haunted by the horrid memories, secrets kept within.
Yet, bleeding my pain on paper helped me heal.
Escaping the past to no longer feel what was real.

I ran until my legs burned, by lungs ready to explode.
I swam until my arms burned, by legs ready to collapse.
I bled my words until the ink had dried out, empty.
I fought the pain, escaping reality by numbing it.
I fought the memories by denying what I wished to forget.

Today, I still run until my legs burn.
I still swim until my legs are ready to collapse.
I still bleed my words until the ink has faded.
Yet, I no longer run from my past, escaping the truth.
In the distance, the sun begins to rise, a new beginning.
