Deadly Tranquillity

by Lisa   Sep 21, 2005

The dimly lit bar
the dark corner her home,
no noticed her here
she simply blended, fitted in
she was safe from the life she had created but hated to face.
in here she could cry a tear,
wallow in self pity without drowning the people around,
let her heart bleed yet dirty no ones shoes.

happiness she called it,
one shot and all her worrys faded like dusk.
the saying was wrong, money could buy happiness,
sure it was superficial but it was enough for her, for now,
when life handed her lemons she added tequila,
she wasn't sure why it made her so innocent, so loved,
but as that warm, viscous liquid ran down her throat all her worries, stress, hatred disappeared in her drunken fog.

she never knew why she had turned in this direction,
why she turned to a drink and not a person.
she always subconciously hoped somebody would save her,
turn her life around,
turn back the clock,
help her our of her hole,
she always promsied her self she would never do it again.
the morning headache not worth it,
but each day lead her back to the same place.
the same innocence
the same detachment
the same superficial happiness.

it was but brief tranquility in its deadly form
