Autumn now holds the throne

by Lu   Sep 23, 2005

Sunshine
losing it's strength
leaves of green
putting on a new face
slowly all is dying

Flowers
losing their beauty
gardens emptied of color
remnants of empty vines
pumpkins the only survivor

Leaves
of red and gold
fall from the trees
now only nakedness
true beauty revealed

Air
cold and crisp
ghostly images
of frosty breath
translucent in the air

Daytime
quickly turn to dark
daylight diminishing
sunlight winking
an early good-night

Birds
the autumn cue
Southward for the winter
bears den bound
for a winter slumber

Home
as a warm fire
begins to glow
flickering flames
dance on the walls

Smells
cinnamon fills the air
sweet apple pie
and savory cider
tempt our taste buds

Autumn
announcing her arrival
with her beauty she will hold the throne
soon to pass down her crown
to the strong and fierce winter
