Flickering Flame

by Maegan   Sep 24, 2005

Though my heart is broken
And my soul is hollow
I have never spoken
Of my sorrow.

In an empty world
Where nothing matters
My mind is torn
And left in tatters.

I came to you
When my need was great
But you saw me coming
Barred shut your gate.

And though I stand outside
And call your name
You left me holding
This flickering flame.

I burn so much
But this you knew
And so you left me burning
Just for you
