Taken too soon

by Bradley Peter   Sep 25, 2005

You were taken by the sea
on the seventeenth of June
everyday i wish it was me
because you were taken too soon

it plays in my head
what happened that day
if it were me instead
i wouldn't feel this way

you drifted out of sight
there was nothing i could do
i hate god for that night
and for what he's put me through

it wasn't your time
you were far too young
not even in your prime
your bell hadn't rung

i remember what you said
just hours before you went
as we laid in the bed
you said your love was intent

then we made love
with you i could fly
but now you watch from above
as that night i watched you die

still i cannot sleep
the nightmares haunt my dreams
so now I'll take the leap
its the only way it seems

I just hope this poem is not about the girl you mentioned in most of your poems.
    Very emotional.

This poem somewhat portrays what most of my dreams are... The "one" man in my life saving, usually I'm saved....but few times I wasn't..... Love the poem though, I love reading your work.... Mine sucks i know, but sometimes i have my moments.

Deeply moving peiece, I am honest as well I love how you keep the i's lower case it really adds to the poem, I like the second staza the best it has almost a muscail quailty to it. The flow is great, the emotion strong, you couldn't have done much to improve this peice, it is wonderfully written 5/5

Dang this is so sad. It's amazing how you put urself in the spot of someone else and write as if it was your own situation. Awesome job.
