A soul mate or a friend

Someone told me , your meant to be my soul mate
but a soul mate cant be just a friend
anyways, soul mates don't hurt the other one
and with soul mates , theres absolutely no end

i thought a soul mate was someone
who you spend the rest of your life with
you don't turn around and walk away
and just end the once joyful bliss

soul mates never seem too go away
because they're supposed to be with you forever
and in your hearts where they're supposed to stay

sometimes they can leave you
but they do it at the wrong time
they don't realize how much they're breaking your heart
and how much suicide is a crime

thats what ends up happening
when you lose the best thing in your life
the one who's been there for you
through happy times and all of your strife

soul mates are meant to be forever
well thats what i thought anyway
but when i lost you
i finally knew soul mates do walk away
