You have to love your life
my counselor once said
but how can I love life
when I would rather be dead

always keep your head up high
my mother always tells me
but if I lift my head up
my bruised face they will see

everyone says
don't play in the rain
but the rain hides my tears
so you can't see my pain

another thing I've heard
is what don't kill you makes you stronger
that doesn't mean much to me though
because I can't stay any longer

I was told to be nice to people
and they will be nice to you
but for anyone in pain
that just isn't true

so all the things I've heard
I just don't think they're true
so to all of these people who made up these sayings
I say it's a lie to you
