Dad

by katie!   Sep 25, 2005

Why? One word, a question for you dad
I've tried my hardest to live up to your expectations
I wanted to be good enough, to make you proud
Yet you offer me nothing but condemnation

Working day in, day out when will it be enough
Dad, I love you unconditionally but I can't carry on
I write poems dad, have you seen them
People say nice things about them, you'd say they were wrong

Every day just another hole to pick at
Analysing every fault in my personality and life
Surely I made you happy at one point
Before I took to shunning daylight for night

I'm tired dad, I tried for you, I really did
But arguments all day long is getting me down
I'm sorry I hurt you and mum, but I can't take it back
You never saw me in fits of tears on the stone clad ground

*this is terrible I know, just trying to release some pent up emotion*

This is not all that bad of a poem, venting is a good thing to release and to be able to do it in a creative way too! i'm sorry to hear about the problems with you and your dad but he probably cares about you more then he is willing to let you see.

Katie , I can feel your pain in this poem , your words sting my heart . I hope someday he will realize how much it hurts you . Such a poem of sadness and emotion . You made me realize that many times I do not give my sons enough credit for the great person they are .

Hey Katie, I know how you feel. I've never admitted this before to anyone but I have the same thing. You are wonderful, sweet and funny don't let anthing anyone says to you get you down. You're too good for that.
    Be strong.
