A Letter to a Friend

by void.   Sep 26, 2005

I'm writing you a letter now,
A testament, a confession note.
I'm writing now to tell you how
My laughter left, my eyes lost hope.

Through all these regretful times
You've been there, my brave friend,
To show me where the sun shines,
To tell me there will be light at the end.

Bright Eyes, you say I am great;
You sing my praise, you lift me high,
But no grander lies have been thought up of late
For my sins have cut me down on the sly.

Nothing passes my eyes without distortion;
I never speak within proportion.
These days and these nights,
I've weighed and I've wondered;
My morals and motives do endlessly fight
And memories, destroyed by disease,
Do sit and view and sway in the breeze.

I'm writing you a letter now,
Please come near, teach me to cope.
I'm writing now though i'm none too proud-
I need to see your eyes to being me hope.
