Going to Shine

I am going to shine today,
Spread my wings and fly away,
Throw the dagger back at the world,
Yell and scream and dance all day,

Spread my arms way up high,
Lengthen my fingers till I touch the sky,
Scare the stupid grey clouds ahead,
Till they find a brand new place to stay,

I will stomp on the nightmares,
Beat them, kill them, and tear them to shreds,
They are not going to stop me now,
Not when I am safe and without dreads,

The Man will not hurt me anymore,
Because I am much stronger now than before,
I will defend myself till the very end,
And when I leave they will be begging for more,

Good morning to the world,
I was not going to tell you this but I will tell you anyway,
I am breaking free from my bonds,
Today is a brand new day.
