Hollow

by Jemma   Sep 26, 2005

Where the horizon sits up high
And many bright stars blinker the sky
A cloud is sitting, dripping in dew
A heart is breaking, collapsing for you

Just out of sight, can’t hear it tear
A wound you made without care
Rough rips cross it, as you turned it down
The beat’s now an unearthly sound

A hollow beat resembling a shadow
The remnant of a once jolly fellow
Who could sing for an ancient tomorrow
But is now consumed by his sorrow

A distant thud of drums beating
Gambling life and death is cheating
Tombstones decorate the inner glow
The heart’s sanctuary from love’s sorrow

Tears of despair and sobs of mirth
Blend in a moment and sink through the earth
The chuckles carry far underground
The only comfort is that hollow, dull sound
