Unconditional Love

by T Michelle Smith   Sep 28, 2005

With guilty grins and eyes so blue

A man of humor and smiles

One who could make you laugh

Even as you were going through life's trials

Prideful and determined

He'd worked and given his all

To raising 7 wonderful kids

Teaching you to be proud and stand tall

Years have come and gone

They say that grumpiness comes with age

Not true in Paw's case, Ive witnessed

He was smiling till the final stage

As happy as you've made him

He's brought sunshine to your life

With days of endless joys and laughter

Refusing to give into strife

So blessed to have had you all

By his side through all of the years

Sickness may have taken over his body

But your love took away his fears

It was not your fight to keep him here

This is gods will, you see

For he is on his way now

With wings and sickness free

First to meet with almighty

Who will then deliver his true love

It is your mother waiting in the clouds

Whose been watching from above

As you are grieving in this moment

Know that they are smiling down

So proud of who you have become

With the paths of life youâ??ve found

On days of loneliness and dismay

Remember they are not far away

Look up to the clouds and know

They are with you everyday

And as the sun touches your cheek

You will feel the kisses from above

Sent to you through the sunrays

Is their unconditional love.

This poem was written for some good friends of mine who lost their mother last year to cancer and their father 2 weeks ago to cancer as well.
