Promise

It feels so dark
in this forgotten home
where this young man sits
with his head down, all alone

The clouds begin darken
and the room surrounding feels so heavy
The soft tears of the sky
wants to cry, but has to stay steady

This young man in his room
doesn't want to go into his past
but the memories that haunt him
forces him to look back

About those days
when he couldn't take life no more
pushing that gun close to his head
with scattered bullets on the floor

caught up in his own depressed world
when life only gave him downers
he lost so many people
and spreading bad luck to all who he encounters

He remembers the days
when covered his wrist lines
so that all eyes can't see
his failed hit and miss tries

He still remember all those times
and all his sob story's
but what he remembers most
was his girl named Tory

how she tried to help him
to look forward to everyday
that there is some good in life
and how she was their to stay

She cared and loved him
like no other in his life
she even stopped his drinking
and threw away that dirty knife

"why couldn't I see it" he said
"why couldn't I see!"
"she just wanted to help"
"she... really cared for me"

he was still too depressed
to far for her to comprehend
but she stayed by his side
all the way, until the end

He only wished for death
and not even her love could make him see
until one fateful night
when she finally set him free

away from all the cutting
away from the gun tucked underneath his bed
away from all the drinking
and that wish that she dread

A gunshot was heard
and his eyes sadden
he rushed to where it was
and couldn't believed what happened

She was there
bleeding, and laying on her side
he held her in his arms
yelling "why baby! why!?"

She looked at him sadly
"... Because this what happens if you do"
"you wouldn't want to end like this"
"this pain would be too much for you"

"Don't leave me" he said
with tears flowing out his eyes
"I love you" he yelled
"I don't want you to...!"

"Shh..." she whispered
"This was what I had to do"
"you were to stubborn" she said
"the only way to get you through"

"But I..." he said
"I don't know what to do"
"how can I go on?"
"I can't live without you"

"hey" she whispered
"make me a promise that you'll keep"
"anything" he replied
she said "live for me"

"I promise" he cried
her eyes became tearful and red
"I never stop loving you" he yelled
she gave him a kiss and said

"I'll give my soul to the lord"
"but my heart belongs to you"
"please live healthy and happy"
"and my heart will always stay true"

Her final words were said
after dying in his embrace
he yelled out in agony
with tears rolling down his face

now months have passed
those memories pushes him cry
but still being true to his love
with his promise not to die.
