Our Mother's Secrets

by Jacklyn   Sep 29, 2005

A sweep across the nation
of water and devastation
Taking lives and buildings
leaving behind a message

Cities sitting in ruins
uprooting and rending trees
Mother natures final word
released; she's breaking free

Homes crumble within seconds
families with no where to return
boats thrown upon the shore
flying rubble creating more

Electrical wires hang there loose
gas pipes begin to unleash
Health issues; a big concern
water and gas linger free

Each storm containing names
whether it's Andrew or Katrina
both genders dangerously equal
As Mother Nature releases her secrets

Wow, your writing never ceases to amaze me, I have read so many fantastic poems today, I am wondering how I can keep up with this standard! This is wonderful, I read it whilst listening to an incredibly moving piece of music which added to how much the poem moved me...

Really made me think of the events which have occured over the past few weeks, mother nature is a terrible force when she does "unleash her secrets" as you put...

    Homes crumble within seconds
families with no where to return
    boats thrown upon the shore
    flying rubble creating more

Loved that stanza so descriptive, well done to you jacklyn, keep writing

Sad Jacklyn :'( It's very sad to see such a beautiful thing as mother nature turn so ugly, within the blink of an eye. You describe in my mind the recent tragic events well.

    Love yah hun,
