Precious Breath

by Michael D Nalley   Sep 30, 2005

From the first breath we inhale at our birth
To the last breath we exhale on this earth
Do we need to understand respiration, wind or air?
To live in the Spirit when the inspiration is there?

No words can be spoken in just one breath
To explain the mysteries of life and death
A mystery is solved so we search much deeper
As we are another step closer to the reaper

We wonder, is life the effect or the cause?
From a natural world with natural laws
The creation of creatures that have sinned
From the voice of doom that blew an ill wind

When our days have gone and our life has past
Each breath was precious from the first to the last
The earth cannot claim what belongs to the sea
Pure vapors will rise toward the sky to be free

I like how it's simple and rhymes. =)

You don't extend your vocabulary, yet it sound so well written and easy to understand. Job well done.

    My favourite lines are:

"When our days have gone and our life has past
Each breath was precious from the first to the last
The earth cannot claim what belongs to the sea
Pure vapors will rise toward the sky to be free"
