The Love That Can Never Be

by Dee   Sep 30, 2005

Thought about you often
Since we said goodbye
Wondered what you were up to
Wondered if you were still alive

Tried to call you once again
On a long, cold, lonely night
Just to say hello to you
And to see what's happening in your life

I forgot the number
Information did not recognize the name
So I simply hung up the phone
And gave up just the same

I knew if it was fate
We would meet again
Because you were once my lover
And my everlasting friend

One night as I stood
In the WaWa cashier line
I heard a sweet voice talking
It said something divine

When I turned around
Amazed, you were standing there
With that smile I remember
The smile that showed you care

Two years has passed by
But we spoke like it was yesterday
Forgetting that our lives were divided
And somehow drifted away

We stood there just talking
Trying to catch up
Years of words just flowing
While the clock was speeding up

We had to quickly say goodbye
You headed to work and I headed home
But as we drove in different directions
We were not alone

Thoughts of you were running through my mind
And you spent time thinking of me
For a moment we were lost in time
Of what we used to be

You and I were quite an item
Such a warm but forbidden love
One that is never to be forgotten
But one that should never have given up

A love that could have survived
Under different circumstance
One that is so fulfilling
Full of passion and romance

But sadly it cannot happen
For we are buried way to deep
We are both left with the memories
Of the love that can never be
