Don't Cry Anymore

Don't mind any of the names in this but this poem is dedicated to my cousin Rusty. He is missed a lot and he will never be forgotten. GO NAVY!!!

I saw Rusty last night in my dreams,
I could have swore it was real, or so it seems.

He asked me, "Why is everyone crying for me and saying my name?"
I said, "Rusty, you left us and things will never be the same."

We were standing outside Heaven's golden door,
He said, "Well tell everyone not to cry anymore."

I said, "Well it won't be that easy, they all miss you a lot,
"They can't just quit crying, because you can't be forgot."

"Just try please, will you do it for me?"
"OK," I said, "I will try and see."

"So what's been going on since I went away?"
"Well a lot actually," I began to say.

I said, "We are playing softball now and we are playing for you."
"We have lost a couple but we have won some too."

He lowered his head and wiped a tear from his eye,
He said, "Tell the team I am sorry I didn't say goodbye."

"Tell Jordan he is the best brother that ever could be,"
"And tell my dad to hit a home run for me."

I started crying and said, "OK I will let them know."
He said, "Well they are calling my name and I have to go."

"Tell my mom I am safely home,"
"And that I am always with her so she is never alone."

He was standing there smiling and he started to fade,
He was going to his place that God had made.

"Tell Brittany thanks for being a fighter,"
"And tell her she better take care of my lighters."

I said, "OK Rusty I will talk to you again." And still he was fading,
He said, "OK I will be up here and I will be waiting."

He turned to me just before he entered Heaven's door,
"Remember to tell them not to cry anymore."

He turned to the door and it opened wide,
Light surrounded him as he walked inside.

Before he was in he turned and winked his eye,
Then he smiled and waved one last time to say goodbye.
