Craddled To Her Death (2nd draft)

by Fighter (Ariane L.)   Sep 30, 2005

Looking into the candle, memories from the past.
Her frightened face still haunts me 'til this day.
Her frail body lying on my knees, powerless.
Nightmares revive the horrid scene, vivid.

Coming back from the store, bags fill my arms.
Walking the lonely street, autumn's scent lingers.
A breeze blows it's melancholy, caressing my hair.
Leaves begin to dance with the wind's rhythmn.

In the distance, a scream pierces the silence.
Tortured cries echo in the night, lost in the wind.
Paralysed with fear, unable to race to her side.
Paralysed with panic, I'm unable to protect her.

Dropping the bags, I run towards the house.
Opening the door as another slams, alert.
Rushing to her side, desperately wanting to save her.
Enveloped with fear, she only stares at me.

Twisted in agonizing pain, not able to respond.
Her eyes show the horror she witnessed.
Her eyes show everything I wished never happened.
Lying on my knees, only soft moans escape her lips.

Looking into her eyes, whispering comforting words.
Wanting the night's horror to vanish, forgotten.
Blood stainds my arms as I caress her hair.
Unable to let her go, craddled to her death.

Looking into the candle, remembering her eyes.
Twisted in pain, horrified by what happened.
Remembering her horrid death, powerless.
Guilt washes over me, innocent beyond my belief.
Forced to cover the truth, bruises hidden from prying eyes.
