Alone

by Eyes_Of_Rain   Oct 2, 2005

Their eyes meet momentarily
Then quickly dart away
Both of them are thinking
What neither one dare say.

Their hands touch unexpectedly
They retract and turn away
They don't talk about it
They grow further apart each day.

Rarely touching and never loving
They are together yet so alone
Both with eyes wide shut
Denying anything is wrong.

They look but do not see
They touch but do not feel
They lie to themselves daily
Never acknowledging what is real.

Two people living together
Pretending their house is a home
With eyes wide shut they'll die together
The way they lived together...Alone.
