Not ready

Thought I was ready
to date again.
I tried to contact someone
and I cut and ran.
Taking things slowly
I find I make fewer mistakes.
I feel I not only hurt them,
I hurt myself as well,
if I don't.
It is better to have fun
and play than to have
to run away.
I am glad I am not ready
at this present time.
I don't want to rush into
anything that I feel
I can't get out.
I can't force love
and wouldn't want to be forced.
For now all is peaceful
and I like who I am
today.
