Raining On My Heart

by RainbowSlider   Oct 2, 2005

My mind held the thunderstorms
of my thoughts charged
with negative impatience
and positive desire.
A cold front from the candy store
and warm front came from my friends.
Even nature has a limit
of how much rain it can hold.
It doesn't always pass by me
sometimes it even rains here.
It has been such a dry spell
the grass is all brown
and many crops have withered.
But the grass doesn't die
because the roots are still alive.
The ground is full of cracks
and even the blacktop melts.
The bullfrogs cry for rain
and the turtles are restless.
The air is so humid
but the little breezes
feel so good.
Some day the rain will come.
I know my eyes are full of tears
and I can feel it raining on my heart.

Funny how people with adictions, depression, and just struggling with life find release in poems, and good ones at that.

This has some great imagery(plus I'm a sucker for love poems, sad poems, and rain poems), some really good description. But the sadness, the 'raining in my heart' and 'tears' kind of come out of the blue, without much explanation, perhaps something added earlier in the poem to connect that emotional part of it, a vague reference to a mood or person or situation that has caused the sadness. This is such a strong piece, I think a little revision would only make it better.Just my opinion.Very well written though, I love the images and flow of the piece.
