Ice cream

by alex   Oct 2, 2005

Eating poison because it tastes so sweet
until it hits my stomach.
Then, in agony, I take another bite.

Loving you completely,
Oh so fully
Even though in loving you, a thousand times, I die.

Torturous how what one part needs destroys another.

You're my every joy
and reason for my every tear.
My confidence
and the spotlight on my flaws.
You're my courage and my strength
and the reason I'm so scared and small.
I need you as you kill me.
I just keep giving
as you take.

Why do I love
to hurt myself for you?

And sawing, slowly sawing
I am cutting off my legs
So I can learn to crawl a step behind you.
Having sold myself the lie
that the only other way
is to walk alone.
