A Test of Kindness

by david kessel   Nov 30, 2003

I see all kinds of tests
Around this day and age
For us to stay abreast
And our progress gauge.

We have LSAT
And GRE and such,
IQ and tests of pee
But do they mean that much?

Is there a test for kindness?
That's what I'd like to know.
To test how big your heart is
To others, friend or foe...

Can I assess exactly
Just how I measure up
When other people ask me
To taste their bitter cup.

To share all their burdens
Of suffering or wrath,
To help them clear the hurdles
That life sets in their path.

Can I find out that instant
Just how much I care
When I look from a distance
At other men's despair...

Are there tests like that, and...
If there are then where
Can I obtain and take them
To see how much I care....
