What they don't tell us about love...

by Nikki   Oct 3, 2005

What they never told us...

Can you tell me what you want in life?
Can you tell me what you want to be?
Can you tell me who you'll fall in love with?
Can you tell that to me?

Can you tell me love is worth it?
And if you think you can
can u tell me something great
other than how it began?

Everyone talks about love
How all the great things began
the butterflies in your stomach
how hes the most amazing man

And you spent years with him
just to know him inside and out
sure they tell you love is great but
theres something they forgot to tell you about

After all those years
together as one
getting married, having kids
making life so fun

You start to get old and tired
But you love him just as much
but he starts to loose his senses
and its hard sometimes to touch

You cry when he's not around
because your scared your old
and the secrets of fearing love
are the ones that were never told

You still hug and kiss
you still say "I love you"
you have grandchildren now
and they look just like you

And than a day comes
and your heart starts to thirst
Your husband had a heart attack
and the doctor confirmed the worst

You crumple to the floor
you can't feel your aching bones
cuz nothing is scarier than
the world's unknowns

You've lost him and maybe
you didn't get to say good-bye
you've never been so upset
and yet you can not cry

And to stand at his funeral
as his lifeless body lows
into the dirt, the earth
in which flowers do grow

You know that you've lost
lost your everything
and you find that your heart
hangs on by a string

then the mourning comes
and the string gets cut
you die of heart ache
and your eyes stay shut
