Nihilism

by Tom Watkins   Oct 3, 2005

Why do you bother to speak,
When your words will only fade?
What wisdom can you impart,
When your world doesn’t exist?

The river seeks an ending,
Yet too many still believe.
Destruction will be the price,
And the ending of the dream.

Life is negated by life,
There are no consequences
To destroying illusions,
And annihilating dreams!

You think, therefore you’re nothing!
Your world is like a candle,
It will burn until it dies,
Yet you won’t live to see it.

But while the candle still burns,
Let us all enjoy the flame,
And the meaningless pleasures
The candle has to offer.

Destroy those institutions
Who uphold a moral code!
And fools who cling to their “God”
Will have reason to lament.

Those who will not renounce Him,
Stand in the way of progress.
That cannot be permitted,
We must send them back to God!

In death they will learn the truth,
For only blackness awaits.
And I shall be the hammer
That drives them into darkness!

There are no consequences,
Upheld by some deity!
Feel free to send that message,
By whatever means you choose!

Without meaning or purpose
Social structures will collapse!
Assaulting reality
Will destroy humanity!

I will be death’s harbinger,
None will escape my furor!
I will conceal my intent
Behind a veil of tenets!

Reject independent thought,
It is not required of you.
As long as you follow me,
I am all the thought you’ll need.

But if you dare to question,
You will either learn your place,
Or you will join God’s children
In the darkness that awaits.

But those who do embrace me,
Will be rewarded in kind.
They will inherit the world,
And everything it offers.

You have but to take my hand,
I will lead you to that place.
We’ll make our own paradise,
Atop the graves of our foes.

You will enjoy life’s pleasures,
And material lucre.
Until the illusion fades,
And we drift into nothing.
