The warmest October I've known

by Timothy   Oct 3, 2005

The wind is so warm, as if it was an August day,
Instead of wearing coats, the children are in shorts, as they play;
The Earth moves farther from the sun,
But I swear summer just isn't done.

The heat can not let go, it holds it's grip,
And the sweet nectar of the summer solstice begs for another sip;
The pumpkins grow large, as the flowers hold onto life,
And the trees are confused, as I hold my jack-o-lantern knife.

Instead of the frost, we continue to see morning dew,
I hope to see a changing season, but there's nothing new;
Welcome, my unborn son, released from a womb you have outgrown,
Into the world, and the warmest October I have known.
