Dancer

Dont talk to me about music,
Or about my feet,
I know theyre not perfect,
But I dont have to be discreet.
If I practice in the center of the classroom,
like a self-appointed queen bee,
Its because no one else does,
And its a choice made by me.

Dont tell me that Im losing,
Ive come pretty far,
If you know that your better,
Why are you worried about me?
Nobodys going to take your place,
No need to make haste,
But dont sit in the corner,
After all youre here to dance,
So get up and move,
Get up and take a chance.

Dont call me pushy,
Im no primadonna,
But Im going to dance now,
So dont stand in my way.
Dont call me excellent,
I dont appreciate the lies,
Flattering and deceit never made me get by.

Just come to see,
when I dance on the stage,
Dont judge my dancing
by my age.
So come along,
About once a month,
Ill be there, practicing the newest steps,
And you can tell me, if Im doing it wrong.

Ill give it my best,
Ive already given it my heart,
And Im sure that thats the most important part.
