Ramadan

by david kessel   Oct 4, 2005

T'is the month of Ramadan
In the deserts of Oman-
Up the Sun, down the Sun
Eating, drinking you must shun.

If you eat before the dusk
Cops will get your sorry as*
Be it just a piece of rusk,
Wait until the day would pass.

Ramadan has just begun
In the country of Oman.
Bide the time until it's dun
Don't eat out in the Sun.

Once the twilight ripens well
You can let your belly swell
'Cause you now can slurp and sup,
Cram and bite and gobble up.

Some may say that it's no fun
To endure the Ramadan-
Even things like chewing gum
Wildcat items would become.

Fine with me and I don't mind-
I don't see it as a grind,
I just see it as a break
To cut down on cake and steak.
