Thinking back

by Arkon   Oct 4, 2005

Without a sound it all came down
Collapsed like a smile into a frown
I dragged it out but I failed in bringing it back
And life goes on after the screen fades to black

Thinking back, I wish I could forget
All the things that made this life worthless
And thinking back, I regret
Saying my life's set, because in reality I couldn't be more wrong.

Thinking back, on the past, of what's changed so fast
To cripple this life of mine to dead last
And thinking back, I hate, all the feelings that I get
When I think about the times I let, you take my heart and break it over your knee

Thinking back, I can see, that I wore it on my sleeve
And I did it too when I told you to leave
When I said that, I meant please come back
But apparently ceased the moment to stab me in the back

So in the end, it's ok
We all die anyway
And I'll be the first to tell it's not fun
To be the guy, standing here, staring a loaded gun

With a bullet, and your name, and a heart's claim to fame
Girl I'd hope you do the same
And I hope you forget, all the things that I've regret
Hopefully you've already forgotten we've ever met.
