It was an accident

by Ryouko   Oct 7, 2005

"It was an accident," I said
As the rain poured down like lead.
"I didn't mean to do it," I went on,
Staring at the girl with the hair so blond.

It was pitch black; the lights were all out.
I knew nothing until I heard the shout.
Screeching tires pierced the night,
As I stared out in fright.

A mangled bike lay underneath my car,
With her body laying on the ground so far.
I never meant to hurt her,
The stranger that I will always remember.

For to this day she remains in my brain
And for her I will always bear the shame
Of ending her life in an instant.
"It was an accident."

This is a very good poem. It is well written and terribly emotional. I am so sorry if this happened to you.
