October Separation

by AloneInaCrowd   Oct 9, 2005

The girl sits there
With her golden hair
Cascading down in waves:
Bereft, forlorn,
Her heart now mourns
Sorrowful is her sightless gaze.

Her heart is numb
She has succumbed
To melancholy notions:
Aloof, detached,
Her joy's been snatched
She's just going through the motions.

Feeling pangs of dismay
Her eyes cloud to gray
Impossibly disguised:
She tries in vain
To hide her pain
But her smile won't reach her eyes.

Intent to unwind
His face fills her mind:
His eyes, so full of caring;
She yearns for his voice
Knows he has no choice
She wonders how he is faring.

When evening comes
Once the day is done
In dreams she longs to drown;
The days crawl slow
Agonizingly so
A single tear slips down.

No one would guess
She won't confess
To what she feels inside;
Yet once asleep
No more discreet
His name she once more cries.
