Do you believe in fate?

If you do, do you believe that there is only one person for you like a soul mate?
What if you are with your soul mate and then they get hit by lighting and die. You move on, then you find someone else and they are your soul mate. Did fate intend for you to stay with your first soul mate but made a mistake or did fate make your first soul mate die so you could find the second soul mate. And if so what happens if they were walking side by side which person are you suppose to be with.
