Heart Beat

by k i k i   Oct 13, 2005

Beating faster then the speed of light,
Heart pumping a thousand a minute.
Running a race to reach the finish line,
It's somewhere in sight.
Ribbon tied around two poles,
I want to strive to the end.

Fatigue kicks in, legs becoming weary,
My mind is all confusion.
Fluids making little difference,
Head pounding with lack of thought.
Popping pills to keep me from falling,
I made the end, finally.

Stretched out among the grass,
Green as ever, I see again.
Back to how I was before I started this race,
When I wanted to change someway.
Cut and frizzed my hair,
Made an imprint into my freckled skin.

Acidic mixes and creations make exposure,
And I feel like I'm in a dream.
No colour, just black and white,
It's all I can see.
Marks and definitions on her face,
The broken tears those are absorbing into her pores.

Lap after lap, it just seems that
Everything just happens like the circle of life.
Death and pain is put forward,
And everything has to be taken head on.
Fate and destiny mixing real with dreams,
Everything contributing to the bigger picture.

One, two, three,
I take a deep breath, taking the final plunge.
