Ode to the Internet

by david kessel   Dec 4, 2003

Oh, Internet, the mighty medium
Us, poor lone souls thou shalt redeem,
And on the tomb of life's ex-tedium
Another dawn has cast its beam.

The Web's pulsating knowldge vessels
Have linked us all accross the globe.
May bytes and bits from distance wrestle
New opportunities and bright new Hope.

The bursts of thought, on line connecting,
Become a surging cyber tide,
And history, self-redirecting,
Will leap ahead in one great stride.

No matter who will try to step on
Our newly gained and precious rights,
We know hold the mighty weapon
Of cyber freedom on our sides.

And as my fingertips retickle
The keyboard's smile's happy gleam,
Forever serious and fickle
The Internet will reign supreme.
