Expecting

by Heather Prior   Oct 13, 2005

Every morning I wake,
Expecting--
to see your face.
I look,
But you're not there.
I remember where I am,
And I cry.

Every day I imagine your face,
Expecting--
you around the next corner.
When I get there,
It's an empty hall.
I remember we're apart,
And I cry.

Every night I reach out,
Expecting--
You to hold me tight.
No one's there,
Only an empty bed.
I know it's another night alone,
And I cry.
