Grandfather

by disorientated   Oct 13, 2005

10 gnarled fingers
working wisdom and word to all.
9 Strong toes
one was lost driving tanks in the war.
8 y-seven
a grand old age, to its full extent
7 grandchildren
i live on his legacy, i am proud to be.
6 532
his code in the police service, swift justice, fairness for all.
50 years of marriage
good love, faithful dependency, lost.
4-teen years
salvation army service, aid to the community and unity
3 Children,
and theirs too, mourning the death of a great man
2 quickly he submerged,
Alzheimer's did its dirty work on him in 2 small months
1 Life lost,
loved, a grievance over the memories of John Dudley Bond

This is a really sad piece but I liked how you handled the issue of loss.
