Blackness

by Heather Prior   Oct 14, 2005

Alone I sit
In a cold, black room--
The moon above,
And the black sea below.

No warmth can touch me
Here, where I sit
In my room.

I cry
As it starts to rain.
My sister, too, is crying for me.

There's a pain in me
That's worse than any
I'd ever had before,
Yet it won't go away.

I sit
In my room
And try to cry
Away the pain.
