Wild Horses

by Shnivel   Oct 14, 2005

I stood in silence as the tears of pain rolled down my face,
Willing me to curl up, still, in a ball,
And to fall asleep on the sand.
The beauty inside me was crushed,
The beauty outside ceased to exist.
I squinted out to the horizon,
Where the sun was dipped in a pool of orange and pink.
Wild horses ran across my liquid eyes,
Causing my tired legs to give way.
Crouching on the soft granules of rock,
I managed to let out one last whisper;
"May the wild horses always be free..."
And then the sun was gone,
As was I.
