Lovers Fight

by Carol Davis   Oct 14, 2005

I see you from afar crying in the
shadows.
For why do you cry my darlin'?
I didn't mean to hurt you, when I hit
you.

I didn't mean for that bruise upon your
cheek.
Please forgive me I'm so in love with you.
I didn't mean for the red mark upon your thigh.

Hurt me not I pray, for I was wrong when I told
you I slept with another.
I didn't mean to step out of line, I didn't mean to make
you look little in your friends eyes.

Baby I love you with all I have, and with all I can give,
please don't leave me now.
I shall never hit you, I shall never deny your love again
upon these nights of pain.

Don't burn me, don't beat me, I will be good, I will do
what you ask of me.
These night were cold without you, I know I was the one
that made you look down on me.

I am sorry I made you feel that you had to strike my face
and made it weak.
I'm on bending knees to ask you for your forgiveness, I
pray once again to spare my life upon your hit I took.
